Introduction of Diclofenac Sodium

Diclofenac sodium is an NSAID (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which comes under the class of non-selective COX inhibitors (conventional NSAIDs). It is an adult-acetic acid derivative. It affects our body as an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drug. It has similar efficiency to naproxen which is a propionic acid derivative.

  • Diclofenac sodium affects prostaglandin synthesis, and also have an antiplatelet action to some extent also helps in reducing inflammation.
  • Protein binding is 99%, orally well absorbed, its excreted and metabolized both in urine and bile. The half-life of diclofenac is around 2 hrs and having long-lasting therapeutic effects action in joints.

Chemical formula

In this we will provide you with the chemical formula – it is Benzeneacetic acid, 2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl ) amino monosodium salt. The molecular formula is C14H10CL2NNAO2, its molecular wt. 318.129 g/mol.
